About Us

Worship services last about 75-90 minutes. We sing together, pray together, read together and listen to a sermon. Then we celebrate the Lord’s Supper (each week) and sing some more. You are welcome to participate as you feel comfortable, or just sit, watch and listen.

Our worship service is at 10am on Sundays at the Carrboro Century Center located on 100 N. Greensboro St, Carrboro, NC, but check our front page for the possibility that we might be worshiping with our partner churches on the 5th Sunday of each month.

Grace Community Church is a spiritual greenhouse for broken and messed up people following Jesus Christ, a man who enjoyed (and enjoys) the company of people with all sorts of hangups, habits, broken dreams, broken hearts, broken bodies, and broken minds.  And on the journey together, we are finding his grace heals us, and all those around us.

If you’re broken, sinful, and tired of faking your way through life, you’ll find friends here.

We have about 60 people on a typical Sunday morning. We are Republicans, Democrats and Independents, young and old, married and single, poor and wealthy, white collar and blue collar. What holds us together is a commitment to Jesus, and his love for us.

We are a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

Our Ministry pathway

"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,but the way of the wicked will perish."

Psalm 1

Branches Reaching Open To The SuN

Sunday mornings, we worship the Triune God with a mix of ancient and contemporary music and liturgies, celebrating the Lord’s Supper every week.  Pastor Sofield generally preaches verse-by-verse through books of the Bible.

Step 1

10AM worship service, Sundays at the Carrboro Century Center

Step 2

Sunday Teams.  We all serve each other on various teams: Music, Setup, Tech, Coffee, Children’s Ministry, etc.  Service is an essential part of our worship and life together.  Learn more at the information table on Sundays.

Roots Growing Deep Into The Soil

Just as a tree can only grow stronger if its roots are deep in rich soil, your should can only grow stronger if you are growing spiritual roots deeper in the rich soil of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and this happens best in community.  Christianity is a team sport.

Step 3

Grace Groups, weekly meetings hyper-focused on spiritual growth of each individual as well as the community.  Long-term, multi-generational groups of 15-20 adults + their kids.  Each group discusses the sermon for the Fall 2017, starting the week of August 27.  Sign up at the information table on Sunday.

Step 4

Triads, Groups of 3-4 people, gender-specific, sub-groups of the Grace Groups.  These meet for further support, encouragement, and gracious accountability.  Coming January 2018.

Fruit Freely Given To The World

Strong trees inevitably bear fruit.  Jesus said, “By their fruit you will know them.”  Our fruit is the good we do in the world: our work, our study, our relationships, and our play; deeds of love and mercy.  By his grace we are putting the world back the way its supposed to be.

step 5

Mission Teams, Various teams that work for mercy and justice in our community and around the world, including the support of missionaries.  Coming Spring 2018.

step 6

Evangelism, This is the “seed” part of the fruit, God has put reproduction in the DNA of every Christian, coming Late 2018.
